You wonder why people choose to guide?

Have you ever watched Days of Our Lives, As the World Turns, or any other soap opera?  Well, if you were to take a group of guides....film them on and OFF the river you would find that you have a show that is basically one of the listed soap operas--with waders.  There is always one guy that is clearly the authority....the guy that is trying to knock that guy down a notch....the dreamer....the "young pup", and so on.

I personally find that part of guiding repulsive and feel that it takes away from what all guides should be trying to do.....put a big, huge smile on everyones face that graces their boat--THAT is what it is all about.

You may be asking yourself the reason for this blog posting, well, I recently guided a father/son duo, the son an 11 year old lefty that is a serious pleasure to watch cast and fish.  The father a super-cool guy too.  This was the second time they fished with me and I'm not going to lie, fishing was tough.  But a couple days after this trip I got a group of emails that were the photos that the dad had taken of the trip...and one was titled "This is why you guide!"   and here is the photo....

That IS why I guide was my reply.  :)
