I have one more fly left in the Galloup line of streamers....so coming soon, the Boogieman which I am crazy excited about.  It is a seriously cool tie, pretty easy and it just plain looks mean.

Great fly tying videos! I am new to fly tying and I have a question about one of the materials that you use, the beadalon. I have looked it up, on line, and there are many variables to this. Which one do you use? Also, would it be feasible to substitute mono? Keep up the good work!

Hi Bennie, thanks for the kind words! The label on my spool of Beadalon peeled off long ago....but I am pretty sure it is the 7 strand wire found here: http://www.beadalon.com/7StrandStringingWires.asp

Mono works but is slick so it slides even after you lash it down with thread. I started off using mono and have had to kill several flies after a couple of fish because the fish tweak the connection enough that the fly just never swam correctly after that. Beadalon is a wire that has a plastic-like coating on it that has some texture so it actually "grabs" your thread and locks into place....it doesn't slip even slightly.

    Brian,
I am going to upgrade my vise. I have been looking at the Dyna King Trekker ($259),
HMH Spartan($200). The Trekker has teeth. I see you use the Peak Vise.
How do you like the Peak? Does the Peak Jaws hold up with big streamer hooks? I tie mostly streamers but also tie down to size 18 and 20.
    Thanks.

I love my Peak. I tell everyone that asks me about it the same thing.....It holds hooks really well, has smooth motion, and it is so well built I feel like I could protect my family with it. :)
