Fly Tying Video: Galloup’s Articulated Butt Monkey

In the second video of the "series" I show you Galloup's Articulated Butt Monkey.  This is one of my favorite flies in the Galloup line of big streamers.  The materials allow movement within the fly without the fisherman imparting any movement at all.  Most of the other flies in his line rely on the fisherman moving the fly to get their CRAZY awesome action--this fly can stand alone.....and when the fisherman 'does' start to move it, it basically comes alive as you will see in the underwater footage at the beginning of the video.  I kind of want to give it a treat and pat it on the head like a dog.....

Again, without further ado....Galloup's Articulated Butt Monkey (full material list below)

Fishadelic Foto Friday!!

After day 2 of floating the Chippewa we reached the takeout.....and didn't find our shuttle.  Turns out a 3 mile hike back to your rig after throwing 10wts all day really isn't that bad.

Fly Tying Video: Kelly Galloup’s Articulated Circus Peanut

Kelly Galloup's Articulated Circus Peanut is the kick-off video of the Galloup line of streamers that I am going to cover for the next couple months or so.  These articulated patterns are typically a LOT easier than they look and, quite frankly, if you can tie a Wooly Bugger you can pretty much tie most of Galloup's articulated patterns.  It is pretty obvious I don't tie these "exactly" the way you will buy them at your local fly shop.  The main thing you will notice is I use top-grade hooks.  A big streamer pattern has to be able to hold a big fish....period--and a wide-gapped hook will do that better than the average, every-day Wooly Bugger hook.  Also, I have updated the materials a bit.  The UV Estaz is awesome and literally shines at night.

Without further ado.....Kelly Galloup's Articulated Circus Peanut  (full material list below)

I generally think people are a lot like me, crazy.  Lately, I have gotten some emails asking about a place to sign up for email alerts of new posts on Fly Fishing the Ozarks.....an option I 'thought' I had for a long time.  Turns out I killed that option the last time I changed the looks of the site and I had no idea I didn't bring it back.  so for those of your who have been asking, it is back.  Simply enter your email address into the box under the text "Subscribe to Fly Fishing the Ozarks by email!" and you will be the first to see new posts, videos, and funky photos.

The ball laying on the ground must be the one I dropped....let me get that.

North Fork of the White River Summer 2011 Video!!

Right this second it is in the low 40's, wind blowing like crazy, and the leaves are almost all gone.  This Summer however was EXACTLY the opposite, crazy hot...NO wind...and did I mention Crazy-Hot?  I had one of the best Summer's I can remember in a long time, fished with friends a TON....watched my eldest become a "real" fly fisherman, and then I watched him take the next step and start to do what he wanted to do in the sport (which happened to be throwing streamers on an 8wt) AND I got some great video of the biggest brown I have had caught since I started making these videos..SCORE!!
