Fly Fishing the Ozarks

Like a lot of the world the last 3 weeks of the olympics basically took over the evening festivities at my house.  We got on a great schedule of Olympics, dinner during the local news, and back to the olympics after a sweet round of Wheel of Fortune.

While browsing The Drake’s blog, I noticed a story about a fly shop called “Whistler Fly Fishing.”  Now unless you have been under a rock for the last month the word “Whistler” should ring a bell….it is the town that hosted bobsled, most of the alpine, luge, and of course the medals plazza.  Turns out this little skiing town in the mountains has a fly shop and I HAD to have a sticker as they have an insanely cool logo.  So I went to the site…a very cool site, found the stickers and started to buy some…turns out you can’t exactly buy online and something that I thought was cool was this little quote on the checkout page.

“We are considering the addition of a shopping cart feature in the near future but currently enjoy getting the chance to meet each of our customers over the phone.”

So I bit, and decided to call the shop myself.  The guy that answered the phone was without a doubt a young, very cool and helpful guy.  The beginning of the conversation went something like this:

Me: Yeah, I saw the story about your shop on The Drake’s Blog and I HAVE to have one of your stickers for my drift boat.

Young Shop Employee: Dude, we are in the Drake?

Me: Well, it’s really the blog but still very cool…they interviewed the owner–you didn’t know?

Young Shop Employee: Dude, I have been fishing for the last seven days (then pulling the phone away from his face and obviously yelling at the other young, cool guys in the shop) Why didn’t anyone tell me we are in The Drake?!?!  Right on man, lets get you some stickers for your boat!

Instantly I wanted to fish with the guy and anyone else in that shop.

He even sent a couple of stickers for my boys.

21 Trout Streams….5 Days….The Missouri Trout Odyssey 2009 is complete.  Although Matt Tucker is still editing INSANELY great photos and I am still editing the video we will have full reports and videos online soon.  So hopefully this trailer will hold you over for a little while.  For the Facebook friendly, Matt and I have been pushing out hints a little at a time over the past week or so….dropping some photos here and there so look us up and you can check them out!

Fly in the ear edition…

A few years ago I went fishing and literally on the second or 3rd cast I decided I would look much more cool with a #6 golden stone in my ear–so I tried it out.

Well, it has been about a year of Fishadelic Foto Friday….kind of a crazy year full of color,  tie dye, big fish, cool fish, cool people, and even a mention on Moldy Chum.  So in honor of a full year of the Fly Fishing the Ozarks readers sending in photos and giving us great feedback on this crazy idea we upgraded our editing program a little (don’t kid yourself we spent none of our hard earned money on this.)   So expect to see a little more across the board kind of cool editing…not all psychodelic but FOR SURE some insanely cool editing, every, single, Friday!

In her second appearance on Fly Fishing the Ozarks Fishadelic-Foto-whatever is Pat with a super sweet Crappie.  I was jealous of the Koi that was her first appearance and the Crappie–NEITHER of which have I caught on the fly.  Keep on keepin’ on Pat…that a girl!
